Creating Our Future will be taking to the road and visiting towns across Ireland. Bringing the local community together with members of the research community to grab a cuppa and discuss what the local community would like researchers to do to create a better future.

Every Thursday, the Creating Our Future team hosts a meeting with researchers and the research community to help outline what we’ve been up to recently, discuss how you can get involved, and to answer any questions you may have for the campaign.

This is intended as a very informal drop-in session running from 10:00 – 10:45, with no need to register in advance.

Creating Our Future

The Expert Committees will have been collecting your ideas and begun formulating the Creating Our Future report. The public symposium will bring together representatives from all walks of Irish life to discuss the work of the expert committees.

PPI Ignite Network Launch

PPI Ignite Network

Ms. Anne Rabbitte, Minister of State at the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and at the Department of Health to officially launch the Network at this online event. The PPI Ignite Network provides leadership to public and patient involvement (PPI) in research across Ireland, Public and patient involvement (PPI) in research (PPI) means that the people most likely to be impacted by research results are involved through out planning and conducting research and sharing the research results.

At the launch event (via Zoom) you will find out more about the PPI Ignite Network and to hear the aspirations and ambitions of PPI contributors, charities, researchers and the research funders on the launch of the Network.

The launch will provide an interactive opportunity to consider PPI topics of relevance for future research, in conjunction with the Creating our Future initiative.

Talking Towns – Community participation in design and planning in towns

UCD Centre for Irish Towns

Talking Towns is a lunchtime seminar series organised by UCD Centre for Irish Towns and UCD Earth Institute. The series aims to spark conversations about the challenges facing Irish towns, the opportunities they offer, and the role of research and policy in bringing about the revitalisation of towns in Ireland.

Starting in October 2021 the series will run on the first Thursday of the month at lunchtime. The series will feature speakers from academia, policymaking and civil society. Each seminar will address a specific topic affecting Irish towns and will have three speakers, each presenting for ten minutes each with plenty of time for discussion afterwards.
